Reports of Harassment Against Asians 65 or Over Grew the Fastest From 2019 to 2020

The NYPD recorded far fewer harassment incidents against Asians of all ages at the beginning of the pandemic than in the same period in 2019, but that changed when lockdown restrictions loosened. While the number of harassment incidents against young Asian New Yorkers continued trending downward, those against Asians ages 45 and up began to increase, with victims 65 and older experiencing the biggest spike.
