Letter to the Editor

Can we not see that all this woman wants is to find work to take care of her family? ...Is that so difficult for us as Americans to understand?”

Harry Madray of Statesboro, GA

To have allowed this poor woman to remain in custody for four bloody years is a national disgrace!! We are supposed to be a civilized country but that concept is making me wonder on a daily basis if that is really so. To have deprived these young girls the love and protection of their beloved mother is criminal indeed! Can we not see that all this woman wants is to find work to take care of her family?

We continue to support crooked and dishonest governments in Latin America which makes the job situation in these respective countries a mockery. Hence the reason so many of these Latinos come to the United States. Can you blame them? Just put ourselves in the position of these people and one can understand the chances they take with their lives just trying to escape poverty and hunger. Like most loving and caring parents, all they want is the opportunity to provide for their children, the educate them and bring them up to be law-abiding, caring individuals. Is that so difficult for us as Americans to understand? Shame on us all!!
