Ashley Dye Joins The Marshall Project

The newsroom adds an Audience Engagement Manager.

The Marshall Project has hired Ashley Dye to be the Audience Engagement Manager. Dye will focus on connecting The Marshall Project’s journalism to readers, most importantly those affected by the criminal justice system.

“Ashley’s breadth of experience and talents in engagement will better position and promote our work,” said Heather Ciras, Director of Audience Development. “The Marshall Project is growing, and Ashley will be a big part of ensuring that growth translates into additional readership.”

Dye comes to The Marshall Project from the Tampa Bay Times, where they were most recently an Engagement Editor. They developed digital and social media strategy to share the Times’ content with a growing, more diverse readership, and crucially revived the Times’ Reddit and Instagram accounts. Dye also crafted engagement plans for the Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation, “Targeted,” and more award-winning projects. Previously, they were a copy editor, founded the Tampa Bay Times’ “Coast Is Queer” section, and won an award for column writing from the NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. Dye is a reluctant Hoosier, a graduate of Ball State University and a current resident of St. Petersburg, Florida. They start on Jan. 10 and can be found on Twitter at @ashleycdye.
