Fox Run CEO Arrested In Police Sex Sting
Randall J. Mackendrick, 59, was arrested on Aug. 29 after he allegedly drove nearly 200 miles to meet someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sex. At the time, he was also the CEO of one of Ohio’s largest residential treatment centers for children.
Mackendrick, who led Fox Run Center for Children and Adolescents in St. Clairsville, was released from custody last week after posting a $125,000 bond. He is charged with unlawful sexual contact with a minor, importuning, disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile and possessing criminal tools.
Universal Health Services, which owns Fox Run, said Mackendrick no longer works for the organization as of Aug. 31 and called the alleged conduct a personal matter unrelated to current or former patients.
The arrest comes just weeks after The Marshall Project reported that children at Fox Run had been subjected to unsafe restraints, physical and sexual assaults, and medical neglect, while dozens of incidents documented by local police were missing from the state’s database.

The Girls Who Survived
Four young women spent their teenage years in Ohio residential treatment centers, including Foundations for Living (owned by Universal Health Services) and Fox Run Center for Children and Adolescents, where they experienced violence, isolation and trauma. But after they got out, the friendships they formed inside became a source of strength — and a way to hold onto the truth of what happened to them.
Today, Jaycee, Isabella, Samantha and Paitin are building lives of their own while helping one another navigate college, motherhood, jobs and healing. They’re also still fighting for answers, gathering public records and pushing for change in the youth residential center industry.
