Mariam Abaza

My Background

I am passionate about advocating for individuals affected by policy gaps and promoting accountability among those in power.

This mission has guided my work. Before graduating from The Ohio State University this spring, I served as an investigative editor at The Lantern, where I produced long-form written and video journalism examining how policy shortcomings affected people's lives.

Prior to The Marshall Project, I interned at the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, in the Ohio Statehouse, and at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
