Phil Trexler is the editor-in-chief of The Marshall Project - Cleveland. Trexler oversees the Cleveland newsroom’s investigative reporting of Cuyahoga County’s criminal justice system and guides reporters and editors in investigative, data and community engagement journalism that directly serves local audiences. Trexler previously served as the executive producer for investigations at WKYC in Cleveland. Before that, he spent 16 years at the Akron Beacon Journal covering crime and criminal justice. Trexler has won several awards for his work in broadcast, digital, and print media, including a regional Edward R. Murrow and four regional Emmys.
