The Marshall Project is a nonpartisan, nonprofit news organization that seeks to create and sustain a sense of national urgency about the U.S. criminal justice system. We have an impact on the system through journalism, rendering it more fair, effective, transparent and humane. The Cleveland team focuses on issues in Northeast Ohio. Launched in 2022, Cleveland is The Marshall Project’s first local network operation. You can read about our impact here.

The Marshall Project’s work in Cleveland is made possible through the generous support of The George Gund Foundation, Char and Chuck Fowler Family Foundation and numerous individual supporters, especially The Marshall Project board member Fred Cummings.
