The Marshall Project is hiring a multimedia editor to create powerful visual journalism for our platforms.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented multi-tasker with experience assigning, editing and producing visual imagery at a news organization. He or she should be versed in web, mobile and social media formats.
An interest in all forms of digital storytelling, user experience and graphics is encouraged.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the newsroom, the commentary editor, and the president to create a range of visual features—including photography, documentary video, illustration, animation and more—for The Marshall Project
Orchestrate and manage photography and video for all stories and social platforms
Assign photographers, videographers and illustrators for long-form investigative and explanatory pieces
Oversee budget, licenses and relationships with wire photo agencies
Manage all photo research and rights procurement for art to accompany stories written by our reporters and freelance contributors
Edit, crop and color correct photographs, as needed
Communicate and maintain relationships, editorial expectations and agreed upon deliverables with partner news organizations
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Strong sense of news judgment, journalistic standards and visual storytelling
3-5 years experience at a news organization
Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects, Bridge and the rest of the Creative Suite
