The Marshall Project is hiring a multimedia editor to join our digital team to collaborate with reporters, editors and partners in curating powerful imagery to accompany our daily news posts and long-form feature stories.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented multi-tasker with experience assigning, editing and producing visual imagery at a news organization. He or she should be versed in web, mobile and social media platforms.
An interest in all forms of digital storytelling, user experience and graphics is encouraged.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage workflow for photography and video on all stories and social platforms
Assign photographers, videographers and illustrators for long-form investigative pieces
Participate in brainstorming the packaging of interactives and major investigative stories.
Assist reporters in photo research and rights procurement
Communicate and maintain relationships, editorial expectations and agreed upon deliverables with partner organizations
Oversee budget, licenses and relationships with wire photo agencies
Produce and publish stories in our custom content management system
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Strong sense of news judgment and storytelling
3-5 years experience at a media organization
Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro, Bridge and the Creative Suite
