The Marshall Project seeks a web producer to join our digital team — data, design, development and interactive — to help plan, package and distribute our stories. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded journalist who understands a bit about each of these key areas and is comfortable juggling a variety of tasks in a fast-paced newsroom.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce stories and newsletters in our cutting-edge content management system.
Assist art director in selection of art, layout and publication.
Attend the morning news meeting with top editors and develop a plan for the day’s coverage.
Participate in brainstorming for the packaging of interactive and major investigative stories.
Collaborate with partner organizations to co-publish stories simultaneously.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1-2 years or significant internship experience in the news industry or other media
Skills in design, typography and basic photo-editing are strongly preferred
Basic proficiency with HTML and CSS
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or a desire to learn recommended
Strong sense of news judgment and storytelling
Precise attention to detail
