I edit investigations and other in-depth projects on a range of criminal justice issues, including prisons, police and prosecutors.
My Background
Before joining The Marshall Project in 2023, I was a senior editor at APM Reports, the investigative reporting unit of American Public Media, where I was one of the lead editors on the investigative podcast “In the Dark.” Reporting from the show’s second season helped free Curtis Flowers from Mississippi’s death row. Previously, I was a story editor at Texas Monthly, and spent nearly 12 years as a reporter and editor at The Texas Observer, including three years as editor-in-chief.
Stories I edited have been nominated for four National Magazine Awards, winning in the multimedia category in 2014. Projects I edited, or helped edit, have also won Polk, Peabody, DuPont, and news and documentary Emmy awards.
