My job is all about building relationships. I find other news organizations to co-report or co-publish stories with us and take care of all the logistics for those partnerships.
My Background
I've been a copy editor, reporter and editor across the South in my 45 years as a journalist.
I started my career at The Birmingham News in 1980, did a stint at the Orlando Sentinel, and was Opinions editor for The Times-Picayune from 1996 to 2019. I was part of The Times-Picayune team that won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, the Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism, and the George Polk Award for Metropolitan Reporting for our coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. I was a finalist for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing as part of the editorial page team at The Birmingham News.
I joined The Marshall Project in 2019 to work on partnerships, which lets me keep in touch with amazing journalists across the country.
I live in New Orleans, where I can be found at Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras parades, and Saints games.
